Depending on the area of your pet’s body that needs examining, an ultrasound or X-ray (radiography) may be recommended to get a better look. Radiology is a vital diagnostic tool for our veterinary team. It helps us make the most comprehensive diagnosis to support your pet’s health.
What technologies do you use?
Our hospital is equipped with ultrasound and X-ray technology, which allows us to accurately diagnose your pet. We have a top-of-the-line X-ray machine that works well on all furry friends, big and small. X-rays use electromagnetic radiation to penetrate your pet’s tissues and show accurate pictures of their internal organs. Ultrasounds use sound wave technology to generate images of specific areas of your furry friend’s body. Our diagnostic imaging tools are safe and painless for your pet. If you have questions about our imaging technology, please contact us at 416-941-8920.
Will my pet need to be sedated?
Your pet’s well-being and comfort are our top priority. We use a combination of medical tools and a soothing environment to reinforce our commitment to you and your pet as an anti-anxiety practice. Sometimes, we might recommend sedation for your pet, to help make them more at ease. In addition, our large non-claustrophobic and bright exam room helps pets feel more relaxed while we perform our diagnostic imaging.
How long does it take to process the images?
Within minutes of taking your pet’s internal images, we can review them with you. Once we’ve reviewed them, we might recommend more diagnostic tests, like bloodwork or a urinalysis. This helps optimize your pet’s individualized treatment plan. If needed, we have access to specialists that can review our images and who can also provide more in depth imaging including MRI and CT Scans.
